Cape Town has been called many things. A 2010 article by Forbes entitled “World’s most beautiful cities” called it “special”, famous English sea captain Sir Francis Drake called it “the most stately thing and the fairest cape…in the circumference of the world” and it was named Africa’s leading destination for the sixth time in seven years at this year’s World Travel Awards.
Visitors come from afar to get a glimpse of Cape Town’s beauty that has been the cause of many awed and respectful silences. Since the FIFA World Cup this year brought new visitors to South Africa, more people have been able to witness and know of the splendour that is Cape Town. International sporting event or not, Cape Town and its abundance of world-class attractions will continue to attract tourists from all over the world as it has done in past centuries.
