Cape Town’s northern suburbs, or rather north-east suburbs, enjoy panoramic views of the city, the ocean and Table Mountain. Lying snug in the middle of the suburbs, is the Tygerberg Nature Reserve and Tygerberg Hills.
Don’t let Plattekloof’s name (“flat valley”) fool you. The suburb actually takes up residence on the slopes of the Tygerberg hills and is in reality, not flat at all. A past blunder led to a mix-up of names between Plattekloof and its neighbouring suburb. One can see someone would want to name this suburb Panorama with the incredible views on offer here.
Add the suburb’s proximity to the Durbanville Wine Route and easy access to the rest of Cape Town to its spectacular views, and it makes sense that Plattekloof’s extravagant houses in large security estates are highly sought after.
