Scarborough beach
Driving along the Cape Peninsula towards Scarborough
Sunset at Scarborough beach

The drive to Cape Point is part of what makes the attraction so popular. The drive there is renowned for being breathtakingly beautiful and for passing one beautiful coastal town after the next. One of these is the conservation village of Scarborough, which sits between the Cape Point Nature Reserve and Table Mountain National Park and overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. One can almost smell the sweet scent of nature as they approach Scarborough and thus it is a is lovingly doted on and cared for by its residents.

Scarborough enjoys relative peace and quiet when compared to the other, more bustling Cape Town suburbs but any veteran Capetonian will know of Scarborough’s attractive features. The village offers visitors a wonderful environment in which to soak up Cape Town’s renowned beauty. The views are incredible. Houses decorate the mountains of Slangkop and Red Hill and look down on a fusion of colours – a green carpet meets white and beige sand, which in turn meets azure water. Foaming waves connect with tanned and black rock, sending small shoots of water in the air, the quiet splashes adding to the peaceful atmosphere. Surrounding mountains add a beautiful backdrop to the scenery, rising up to touch the blue sky. On overcast days, white puffy clouds descend and blanket the mountains affectionately, adding to the array of natural colours.

The unspoilt beaches attract surfers, body boarders, fishermen, kayakers and windsurfers, who, along with Scarborough’s residents, beachgoers and boats dotting the ocean, are treated to breathtaking sunsets.
