Lanseria might make one associate the suburb only with its airport but, in fact, the suburb is situated slap-bang in the middle of some of Gauteng’s major attractions and is a great base from which to travel around the province.
Green surroundings can be found in the north west at The Cradle Nature Reserve and Hartebeeshoek Game Reserve, and a little further on, lies Magaliesburg Nature Reserve. In the north, one can find the popular Hartebeespoort Dam. North East is the country’s administrative capital, Pretoria, and travelling south from there will take you past Joburg’s energetic, busy suburbs until finally reaching the city centre. A little further south west is the famous Soweto township. With the airport offering regular flights to Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban, a journey further afield is easily possible too.
If being in the wild and seeing some of Africa’s most dangerous animals are on the top of your list of must-do activities, then you’re in the right place.
Croc City, the Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve and the Lion Park are all only a few kilometres away and various other game parks and nature reserves are only short drives away.
